New books on family businesses in Mexico and India
Two new interesting books on family businesses, in Mexico and India during the 20th century:
1. India: Hamish Mc Donald (2010). Mahabharata in Polyester. The Making of the World´s richest brothers and their feud. New South. Conflicts in generational succession of a big corporation born in textiles and transformed in a diversified holding with petrochemicals, TICS and entertainment companies.
2. Mexico: Mario Cerutti, Maria del Carmen Hernández and Carlos Marichal coords. (2010), Grandes empresas y grupos empresariales en Mexico en el siglo XX. P y V. Seven essays diversified in sectors and regions which focus in the consolidation of dynamic firms during the ISI period and in their globalization after the 1980s.

DISSERTATION ON THE GIRONA FAMILY OF CATALONIA BY LLUISA PLA
Lluïsa Pla i Toldrà has just presented her doctoral dissertation on one of the most influential business family of Catalonia during the 19th century, the Gironas, a family which had a diversified portfolio of investments among which outstandingly shares of the first industrial bank of the first industrial region of Spain: the Banco de Barcelona. The title is "Els Girona: la formació de la gran burgesia catalana del segle XIX(1748-1905)". The advisor has been the prestigious historian Jordi Nadal i Oller. The thesis was presented at the Department of History and Economic Institutions of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitat de Barcelona in Spain, January 2011.
